If you're serious about homemade pizza, a quality pizza peel is a must-have tool. We recently got our hands on the Wooden Pizza Peel by New Star Foodservice, and it did not disappoint! This peel is well-crafted, sturdy, and arrived in flawless condition, ready to be put to work.

We immediately put it to the test by making a fresh batch of homemade pizza dough using our tried-and-true standard pizza crust recipe. The smooth wooden surface made transferring the dough effortless, while the comfortable handle provided a secure grip. The size was just right for maneuvering pizzas with ease, whether we were sliding them onto our 16-inch Pizza Steel by Thermichef or retrieving them once perfectly baked.

One of the standout features of this peel is its durability. Unlike thinner, flimsier alternatives, this peel feels solid and dependable, capable of handling even larger pizzas without bending or warping. Plus, the natural wood finish gives it a classic, rustic charm that looks great hanging in the kitchen when not in use.

Overall, we loved using this pizza peel! It made the process smooth, mess-free, and enjoyable. Whether you're a seasoned pizza maker or just starting your homemade pizza journey, this is a fantastic addition to your kitchen tools.

We made all kinds of delicious homemade pizza using this pizza peel!

The pizzas we made using this pizza peel

It worked amazingly well but there are a few tips you should know with any Pizza Peel.

  • Flour and or Cornmeal on the surface helps prevent the pizza from sticking to the peel.
  • Don't make the pizza on the peel as this allows too much time for the moisture of the dough to absorb the flour or cornmeal that is needed to help it slide smoothly off of the peel.
  • Use quick movements to snap the pizza off of the peel.

Cleaning is easy, just wipe it down, if there is any stuck dough just scrape it off. Do not soak your wooden pizza peel and leave it to dry as it could crack or warp.
